A Dash Kit is the mounting bracket designed to ensure a snug and clean fit for the installation of a stereo.

They are available for single din and double din stereos* in most vehicles, with the former typically including a pocket below the stereo to account for the extra space (as seen in the image).

They are often manufactured in many finishes to match the rest of your vehicle's interior, with some even available in specialty colors to fit a custom interior design.

*Please note that some 3rd party companies make stereos that do not follow industry standards and can therefore be too big/small to allow the bracket to work without modifications or gaps.

A Wiring Harness is the connecting piece between the vehicle's factory sound system and the new stereo that removes the need to cut the original wiring of the vehicle.

Without the harness, the process is far more labor intensive, prone to errors/safety issues and can devalue the vehicle due to the inability to easily reinstall the factory stereo.

A Steering Wheel Control Interface, as the name suggests, retains the functionality of the buttons* on the steering wheel related to the stereo, such as volume, track control and more.

This is an optional installation piece that requires some programming and is not available for all vehicles with steering wheel controls.

*The buttons must work prior to the installation for them to work with the interface and analog buttons/select phone call buttons are unlikely to be retained by the interface.

An Amplified System Interface is an additional or alternative piece to that of the wiring harness designed for vehicles with premium factory sound systems or that have any factory amplifier for either the original speakers or subwoofers*.

Without this piece, a standard wiring harness on its own may allow the stereo to turn on but no sound will be produced by anything connected to a factory amplifier. This may just be the factory subwoofer or the entire set of speakers.

*Amplified factory systems may require just an interface or more complicated installations ranging from bypassing the amplifier to replacing all speakers alongside a stereo upgrade.

An Antenna Adapter is an optional but often essential adapter that connects your vehicle's radio antenna to the new stereo so that you can retain access to radio stations*.

This does not include retaining satellite radio such as Sirius XM. Please refer to the Other section below for more information.

*The vehicle's radio antenna must work prior to the installation for it to work with the adapter.

A USB Adapter is an optional installation part that offers a more professional and convenient USB port placement for stereos that rely on said port for wired CarPlay/Android Auto or have USB outputs for charging.

It is often installed by replacing a cigarette lighter, existing USB port, or by modifying the dash/console.

Variations are available for USB-C and HDMI as well as for dual ports of the same or different type.

A Rearview Camera Harness, as the name suggests, retains the factory rearview camera of a vehicle*.

This is an optional but often essential installation piece that is not needed for rearview cameras displayed on the rearview mirror and is not available for all vehicles with rearview cameras.

*The rearview camera must work prior to the installation for it to work with the harness and additional parts may be necessary. In cases where a harness does not exist to retain the factory rearview camera, an aftermarket camera can be installed but it often is not placed in the same spot as the old camera, making it seem as though there are two cameras from the outside.

An Integrated Climate Controls Interface is an additional or alternative piece to that of the wiring harness designed for vehicles that have a factory stereo system that displays climate control information and/or has the climate controls in some way connected to the factory stereo*.

Without this piece, a standard wiring harness on its own may allow the sound system and stereo to work, but the climate controls will no longer be functional.

*Integrated climate control stereo systems may require just an interface or more complicated installations ranging from limitations in radio compatibility to installing the aftermarket stereo while maintaining the original for climate control purposes.

A Passenger Screen Retention Harness, as the name suggests, retains the passenger screens of a vehicle*.

This is an optional installation piece that is not compatible with all aftermarket stereos and is not available for all vehicles with passenger screens.

*The passenger screens must work prior to the installation for them to work with the harness.

• Sirius XM Tuner: Retains/Enables Sirius XM satellite connection for stereos compatible with the tuner. Can use CarPlay/Android Auto alongside/instead of the tuner but will rely on online connection.

• Voltage Step-Down Converter: Additional part typically required for retaining select rearview cameras to avoid damage from mismatched voltage.

• Signal Filter: Additional part typically required for adding aftermarket rearview cameras to remove video noise in the form of lines over the image on the stereo's screen.
